Long-established comemso test technology on its own software platform ? carefully migrated and extensively tested.

comemso Integrates Proven ISO 15118 Test Libraries into comframe

Ostfildern, 11.09.2026 (PresseBox) - Electric vehicles and charging stations need to communicate digitally for charging to work. The ISO 15118 series of standards defines common rules for this communication. For many years, comemso has offered test libraries that check whether charging stations follow these rules. The libraries based on ISO 15118-4 and ISO 15118-5 are now available in comemso?s own software platform, comframe.

Developers can now configure, run, and evaluate standardized communication tests for alternating-current and direct-current charging stations (AC and DC) directly in comframe. Additional test libraries are planned.

A Proven Foundation, Extensively Tested

The previous libraries ran on a different software platform but were already developed entirely by comemso. The implementation in comframe was also developed in-house and builds on the previous CharIN-validated comemso implementation. CharIN (Charging Interface Initiative) is an international industry association that promotes reliable interoperability between electric vehicles and charging stations from different manufacturers.

To verify the implementation, test cases were run repeatedly on two charging stations using both comframe and the previous software platform, and the results were compared. One of these stations was the exact same unit used for the original CharIN validation.

In addition, comemso checked every test case against its own charging station simulation in comframe. Correct and faulty communication sequences were deliberately introduced to verify that both passing behavior (PASS) and deviations from the requirements (FAIL) were correctly identified.

?We have carefully transferred our many years of testing expertise into comframe. A key priority was to compare the results with the proven implementation and specifically check every test case for correct PASS and FAIL detection,? says Kiriakos Athanasas, CEO of comemso.

From Configuration to Test Report

comframe controls comemso?s EVCA (EV Charging Analyzer/Simulator) family of test systems. These systems analyze charging processes and can simulate an electric vehicle or a charging station. In the charging station tests described here, the test system takes the role of the vehicle and checks whether the connected charging station follows the specified communication rules.

The test configuration takes into account which functions the charging station supports and which technical details are required for testing. Standardized PICS and PIXIT information is used for this purpose.

Test selection, execution, and evaluation all take place within the same software. A separate test report can be generated for each executed test case, supporting documentation and repeat testing after software changes.

Existing EVCA systems can also be upgraded with comframe and the corresponding libraries. comemso advises customers on suitable upgrade options.
